When a new client comes to The Contrology Center the first question usually is, “What is Contrology?” Contrology is defined by Joseph Hubertus Pilates himself as “complete coordination of the body, mind, and spirit”. This is the original name Joseph Pilates called his method which “develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, invigorates the mind, and elevates the spirit”. It is rewarding to watch my clients begin their Pilates sessions to change their bodies or recover from an injury and achieve so much more when they discover what Pilates REALLY is!
Joseph Pilates, who used his methods to help the sick and wounded during World War I in Germany and later dancers and the elite in New York City, was said to be generations ahead of his time. In today’s Modern and hectic world, we as a society are in even greater need of the practice of Contrology. Today’s hectic lifestyle and stress overload contribute to an overwhelming amount of body tightness, weight gain, and depression. Through the practice of Contrology (Pilates), you will begin to live and see life differently and have the energy at the end of the day to do the things you enjoy.
My greatest joy is watching the excitement in my clients faces (and in their bodies) when they gain Control and improve their quality of life through the power of The Classical Pilates Method.
